Agriculture production
- Crops
- Livestock
Fisheries production
- Capture fisheries
- Aquaculture
Forestry
- Forest management: growth and inventory
- Forest health: detection and prevention (diseases, fires, etc)
Food chain (farm to fork)
- Food traceability
- Food safety & quality
- Strengthening/resilience of the Agrifood supply chain
Environmental and biodiversity protection
- Preservation of biodiversity in agriculture, fishery and forestry activities
- Monitoring of environmental impact of agrifood and forestry activities
Policies and standards
Contribute to shaping the innovation and regulatory policies at EU level in the areas of interest to our working group. In particular, the following areas are concerned.
- EU data strategy:
• Provide feedback to the European data strategy
• Contribute to create the vision for agrifood data ecosystems, comprising data spaces and data marketplaces leveraging on data sharing.
- Farm to fork strategy and biodiversity strategy
• Provide feedback on the EU farm to fork strategy
• Provide input and feedback on issues like provenance of food, environmental footprint associated with food production (e.g. greenhouse emissions, use of pesticides and fertilisers, use of irrigation…), or data related to animal welfare and health.
• Provide input on data sharing as a key element to strengthen the supply chain
- CAP post 2020
• Monitoring of the CAP: working on digital tools (both SW and cyber-physical systems) for a simplified and effective implementation of the CAP, notably monitoring of agricultural areas using an integration of remote and proximal sensing, as well as other data sources
Technology
Identify key technological developments and gaps in the scope of group
- Architectures and standards for data sharing
- Gaps in interoperability and standardization
- Digital twins for agriculture, fisheries and forestry
- Specific requirements of IoT for Group scope: connectivity in remote areas, low-power solutions, Edge AI…
- Ag robots
- AI-based data processing
- Smart sensing approaches for portable food safety/quality analysis
- Application of mobile devices in agrifood (e.g. augmented reality, advanced image processing)
EU Research and Innovation
Generate opportunities for collaborative research and innovation for our members
- Contribute to the AIOTI SRIA for Horizon Europe work programme
- Facilitating consortia building for Horizon Europe and other funding programmes within the scope of the group
- PoCs and pilots within the Smart Networks public-private partnership
- Cooperation with other R&D&I organisations/partnerships with specific programmes in the scope of WG06 activities (e.g. EIP AGRI, ECSEL, BBI, …)
- Testing and experimentation facilities (living labs) for agriculture, forestry and environmental monitoring (Digital Europe programme)
- Involvement with Digital Innovation Hubs (Digital Europe programme)
- Engage agri-food LSPs within group scope: ATLAS, DEMETER, SmartAgriHubs, agROBOFood, and other LSPs in forestry, biodiversity and environment
- Generate opportunities in Gaia-X
