In the past years the role of standardisation as a bridge between research activities and the market has been increasingly recognized, both by EU institutions and by R&D stakeholders. The incorporation of the latest knowledge into new standards can provide the foundation for further developments, new research and ultimately new knowledge, creating a virtuous knowledge circle of standards and research.
